The Sorry Kisses are an alternative rock duo from North Yorkshire, comprising the acclaimed solo performer Hayley Hutchinson and Sam Forrest from Nine Black Alps.
The band have released four full length albums on their Desert Mine Music label that have seen them gain exposure in the form of a BBC6 Marc Riley session and a song featured on the hit US drama 'Grey's Anatomy'.
By producing their records in their home studio, The Factory Of Unprofessional Sound, the Sorry Kisses have kept an authentic homespun feel and have been allowed to expand their fuzz-pop sound with backwards guitars, stuttering drum machines and multi-tracked harmonies.
The focus of their records is Hutchinson's double-tracked vocals that have drawn comparisons with The Breeders. Yet it is their ability to effortlessly bridge the gap between noise and melody that sees them carrying the torch of alternative rock born by the likes of The Lemonheads and The Flaming Lips.
The pair came together in 2006 seeking to fuse some of Hutchinson's unused rock songs with Forrest's interest in home recording. Before long they'd recruited Giant Drag drummer Micah Calabrese in a Pacific coast surf-shack, recorded in the legendary Sunset Sound studios, and toured the UK in support of Benjamin Francis Leftwich.
'Play Along' is the band's fourth full-length album on their label Desert Mine Music.
